Reem Al-hajajra, founder and director of the women of the sun Association, received the Rockefeller international award, which is awarded for pioneering initiatives that contribute to social change and promote justice. This came in recognition of the role of “women of the sun” in empowering women in conflict zones and raising their voices in the political and societal spaces.

In her speech during the honoring ceremony and the dialogue seminar, hajajra stressed the importance of involving women in all crucial issues, saying: “women’s voices are not marginal. We are at the heart of the action, we are paying for wars and policies, and we have the right to be part of the decision,”he said.

“What is happening in Gaza from war and famine is a humanitarian crime that must stop immediately . We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of civilians, especially women and children, under siege and shelling,”he said.

تسلّمت ريم الحجاجرة، مؤسسة و مديرة جمعية نساء الشمس، جائزة روكفلر الدولية، التي تُمنح للمبادرات الريادية التي تُسهم في التغيير الاجتماعي وتعزيز العدالة. جاء ذلك تقديراً لدور “نساء الشمس” في تمكين النساء في مناطق النزاع ورفع أصواتهن في الفضاءين السياسي والمجتمعي.

وفي كلمتها خلال حفل التكريم و الندوة الحوارية شددت الحجاجرة على أهمية إشراك النساء في كل القضايا المصيرية، قائلة: “أصوات النساء ليست هامشية. نحن في قلب الحدث، وندفع أثمان الحروب والسياسات، ومن حقنا أن نكون جزءاً من القرار”.

وأضافت: “ما يحدث في غزة من حرب ومجاعة هو جريمة إنسانية يجب أن تتوقف فوراً. لا يمكن الصمت أمام معاناة المدنيين، وخاصة النساء والأطفال، تحت الحصار والقصف”.
