Roots of Resilience: Planting Heritage and Hope in Al-Eizariya

As part of the project “Empowering Women, Securing the Future: Sustainable Solutions for a Greener, More Equal, and Food-Secure World”, we held a workshop today, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Orthodox School of Al-Eizariya. Where we explored the incredible richness of our land’s biodiversity, learning how deeply these plants are woven into our history, culture, and identity.

Afterwards, we rolled up our sleeves and planted native trees and shrubs — the carob tree, bay laurel, arbutus, and oak tree. Each one is a living symbol of resilience, heritage, and hope — deeply rooted in Palestinian soil, just like us.

These trees are more than plants — they are stories, memories, and a promise to protect our natural treasures for generations to come.

ضمن مشروع ” تمكين المرأة، وتأمين المستقبل: حلول مستدامة لعالم أكثر خضرة ومساواة وأمناً غذائياً” قمنا اليوم السبت، تاريخ ٢٧ أيلول ٢٠٢٥ بورشة عمل في مدرسة العيزرية الأرثوذكسية. تضمنت الورشة نشاطات توعوية مُلهمة حول النباتات المحلية في فلسطين. استكشفنا الثراء المذهل للتنوع البيولوجي في أرضنا، وتعلمنا مدى تجذر هذه النباتات في تاريخنا وثقافتنا وهويتنا.

بعد ذلك، شمرنا عن سواعدنا وزرعنا أشجارًا وشجيرات محلية، زرعنا شجرة الخروب، والغار، والقرطب، والبلوط. كل واحدة منها رمز حي للصمود والتراث والأمل، هذه الشجرات متجذرة في تراب فلسطين، مثلنا تمامًا.

هذه الأشجار أكثر من مجرد نباتات، إنها قصص وذكريات، ووعد بحماية كنوزنا الطبيعية للأجيال القادمة.
